Monitoring options

A system can sound a local alarm only, send notifications to the owner’s phone, or connect to a 24-hour security monitoring centre. The owner chooses the monitoring centre; as installer and distributor, we survey, install, commission and maintain the system. The scope is set out in the written quotation.

Zones and CCTV integration

The premises are divided into zones, for example the office, cash room, storeroom and perimeter, so that each area can be armed separately. When an alarm is triggered, it can activate lights and notifications and mark the matching CCTV recording for review.

Reducing false alarms

  • Keep detectors away from air-conditioning outlets, curtains and direct sunlight
  • Test detectors, sirens and communications regularly
  • Replace backup batteries before they run low
  • Make sure staff know how to arm and disarm the system

Where it is used

Shops, offices, warehouses, schools and village houses: anywhere that needs protection outside business hours. For schools, the system can be zoned so that the office or equipment rooms stay armed during the day.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a licensed company to install it in Hong Kong?

Yes, if the work is done for reward. Installing, maintaining or repairing security devices for others is Type III security work under the Security and Guarding Services Ordinance (Cap. 460). The company needs a Security Company Licence and the workers need a Security Personnel Permit. KNS SYSTEM LTD holds Security Company Licence No. 1507.

Can the alarm connect to a 24-hour monitoring centre?

Yes. The system can send alarms to a monitoring centre chosen by the owner, or only notify the owner and sound locally.

What is the difference between a burglar alarm and access control?

Access control manages normal entry by authorised people; a burglar alarm detects intrusion when the premises are armed. They can be linked but do not replace each other.

How can false alarms be reduced?

Place detectors away from air-conditioning outlets and direct sunlight, test them regularly, keep backup batteries charged, and train staff on arming and disarming.

Does the alarm work during a power cut?

The control panel normally has a backup battery and continues to work for a period during a power cut. Batteries should be checked and replaced regularly.

Can you maintain an alarm system installed by another company?

Yes. We inspect the panel, detectors and siren first and list what can be kept and what needs replacing.
